Friday nights at OE
Appealing to the tribesman within is a recurring theme here at OE; workouts designed to unleash your inner warrior, food sourced from trusty, local hunter-gatherers and events aiming to evoke a sense of community .
We are crazy about a good meal enjoyed together, workshops to honour our roots and lighthearted play to wiggle out that lactic acid (salsa-swinging hips on a Friday night!).
Our next Friday event is no exception, with dinner and dessert enjoyed to the rhythmic, hypnotic sounds of ‘De La Energia’ , Brazilian drumming at it’s ferocious finest. After you’ve had time to digest to the beat you can join in the action, learning to play them yourself and pounding your paws out.

This event will be held on Friday the 2nd of March, starting at 7pm. To reserve your place, saunter in to the gym and purchase your ticket ($40) for our Brazilian bonanza (thongs not included)!
Just a reminder that these events will now be held the first Friday of each month, and will rotate between documentary screenings, dance classes, live music, talks from primary producers and cooking demonstrations.
A few of you have also asked about the 42 Days of Change DVD – after a minor delay we expect to have it available in the next couple of weeks. In it, a recap of the points covered, lifestyle modifications, exercises and recipes to get you started. we’ll let you know when it hits the shelves of OE!
Next cleansing workshop
Many of us go gung-ho in January and February; purging and sweating and portion-controlling to shake off those sugar-coated festivities we know as New Years. Unfortunately, the stickability of these measures is questionable – how many poor souls are suffering from PTLDD right now!? (Post-traumatic-lemon-detox-disorder; a medical term). As we learned in the 42 days of change workshop (and from our own better judgement), a successful cleansing protocol is achievable, sustainable and intuitive, based on traditional methods and without reliance on lemony laxatives and synthetic supplements.
At Origin, we offer practical ways to cleanse each season, with support in numbers and guided nutritional and fitness advice during these times.
Want to initiate healing and renewal but not sure where to start, what to eat or how to keep your wits about you?! Come along to next season’s workshop which will be held on the 5th of May for $75 per head. Included will be all the knowledge required to get you started on a safe, gentle and abundantly tasty regime that will help you weed out any gut-irritating nasties and reinoculate yourself with probiotic (pro-life!), gut-healing flora. You will have the support of your fellow classmates, Origin of Energy staff, and (to make life even more rosy) our cafe will be offering food appropriate for each phase of the detox. We’ve got your glutes covered! Come in to the gym to reserve your place and jump on the cleansing caboose!
Food, Farming & Fitness
We will also be holding the next in our Food, Farming & Fitness workshop series on the 24th of March. Joining the OE crew will be good friends Anthia Koullouros (Ovvio Organics) and Marty Boetz (Longrain) to appeal to your Passion for Poultry! With such a delicious theme, we can’t help but multi-directional-lunge like headless chickens with excitement!
CEC workshops, online membership and changes to classes
In other non-food-related news, we are gearing up to kick off the first in our series of CEC workshops this winter. Details and dates to come, but for those looking to broaden their training horizons and learn new, relevant and hugely beneficial skills, these will be for you! Included in the weekend training sessions will be Core, OE Assessment, Lifting and Stretching.
We have online memberships in our sights, with this (plus a revamped website) as our latest project. We’ll keep you posted on our progress, but for now you still have the ability to pre-book classes and sign-in online. Click the ‘classes’ tab, choose your preferred timeslot and sign yourself in! (NB: You’ll need to register for a username & password beforehand). As classes get busier, this is a great option to ensure you’re one of the 18 lucky victims participants in our ever changing workout of the day!
There are also two classes which have now been discontinued – 6.30pm Friday and 6am Saturday will no longer run. Sorry for any inconvenience!
That’s it for February news and happenings! As always, thanks for supporting our continued growth, development and reinventions.
Peace, love, and grass-fed cream. Catie x
